Description
Fonds consists of printed samples, mock-ups, printing negatives, order books, and administrative documents from The Beacon Press, predominantly from the period the business was overseen by Edward Williamson. The samples cover a range of printed document types, including programs, business cards, flyers, menus, stationery, forms, tickets, brochures, invitations, posters, labels, ferry timetables, greeting cards, and booklets.
The customers represented in both the samples and the order books are mostly businesses, social organizations, individuals and government bodies in Charlotte County, with some from elsewhere in New Brunswick, Maine, and Ontario. The majority of the customers are located in St. Andrews, and include the Algonquin Hotel; St Andrews Woolens; Conley's Lobster; Wren's Drug Store; Wesley United Church; The Sea Captain's Loft; the Town of St. Andrews; Vincent Massey High School; Sir James Dunn Academy; C. H. Tompkins; the Shiretown Inn {Kennedy Inn]; Sunbury Shores; and the Sir James Dunn Arena. The numerous print jobs for individuals include stationery, cards, and wedding invitations, while area schools are well represented through exam booklets, administrative forms, and high school graduation programs, the latter of which include high schools in Black's Harbour, Milltown, St. George, Grand Manan, and Campobello in addition to St. Andrews' Charlotte County Grammar School, Vincent Massey High School, and Sir James Dunn Academy. Town of St. Andrews work includes the Town of St. Andrews Annual Reports for 1928 - 1966.
