Creator

St. Andrews Creative Playground Project
The St. Andrews Creative Playground Project was a volunteer-led effort that built a new, safe, and developmentally appropriate playground at Vincent Massy Elementary School in St. Andrews, NB. In undertaking this task, the planning committee sought to incorporate input from the local children as well as community members and educational experts. While planning took almost two years, construction lasted only five days (June 2-6, 1993) and was directed by lead architect Robert Leathers. The $75,000 project was funded through intensive fundraising and donations from community organizations and trusts. Hundreds of volunteers from St. Andrews and surrounding towns donated their tools, hardware materials, food and drink, time, and labour to the playground’s construction.
